Fitting the microchip

We understand the importance of your pet’s relaxation, and we make it a priority before initiating the microchipping process. We understand the importance of your pet’s comfort, and that’s why we will place them on a cozy vet bed mat, typically on a table or a similar surface. Your assistance in holding them in place is greatly appreciated. As part of our thorough process, we will conduct a scan to ensure that no previous microchip has been inserted into your pet, providing you with complete peace of mind. When your pet is in position, we skillfully insert a needle between the shoulder blades and place the microchip under the skin. This step is performed with care to ensure your pet’s comfort. With the microchipping process focused on the area between the shoulder blades, which has minimal nerve endings, it is usually painless for most pets. We take immediate action by applying pressure on the injection site with an antibacterial skin wipe as soon as the needle is withdrawn. This prevents excessive bleeding and reduces the risk of infection. The Smarttrace National Pet Database will send you a confirmation email to acknowledge the registration of the microchip and provide you with the necessary documentation.

To comply with the law and ensure accuracy, it is essential to keep your pet’s microchip details up to date, including any changes in address or contact information.

After The Appointment

To ensure proper healing and minimize discomfort, it is important to refrain from touching the implantation area for at least 4 hours. During this time, your pet may exhibit some sensitivity in the area.

We recommend keeping your pet indoors following the procedure to minimize the risk of dirt entering the injection site, which could potentially lead to an infection.

To ensure a smooth healing process and prevent any potential discomfort, it is advisable not to put a harness or clothing on your pet for at least 4 hours following the procedure, as this can help prevent rubbing and inflammation of the injection site.

For the best outcome and to avoid any potential complications, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before bathing your pet after the implantation to allow the site to heal and reduce the risk of infection.
