We allocate a minimum of 30 minutes for the appointment, allowing ample time to accommodate the size of the litter.

We make use of this time to go over the microchipping procedure step by step, ensuring that you are fully informed about what to expect. As part of our protocol, we will ask you to fill in an informed consent form for each pet that will undergo microchipping. This step is crucial in ensuring that the pet’s details are accurately recorded on the database.

Fitting the microchip

Prioritizing your pet’s well-being, we strive to create a stress-free environment before commencing the microchipping procedure. Ensuring your pet’s comfort, we will position them on a cozy vet bed mat, typically placed on a table or a similar surface, while kindly requesting your assistance in holding them steady. We will perform a scan to ensure that no previous microchip has been inserted into your pet, guaranteeing your peace of mind throughout the microchipping process. Once your pet is settled, we delicately insert a needle between the shoulder blades and introduce the microchip under the skin, guaranteeing a smooth and gentle procedure. We take great care to ensure the microchipping procedure is painless for your pet, as the shoulder blade area is relatively insensitive to pain. Once the needle is removed, we will promptly apply pressure on the injection site using an antibacterial skin wipe. This ensures minimal bleeding and reduces the potential for infection. Subsequently, we will perform a scan to verify the placement of the microchip beneath the skin and ensure proper functioning. Maintaining up-to-date information is essential to meet legal obligations and ensure the proper functioning of the microchip, particularly when there are changes in your address or contact details.

After The Appointment

Allowing the implantation site to settle and heal requires avoiding contact for a minimum of 4 hours. During this period, your pet may experience sensitivity if the area is touched.

As a precautionary measure, we suggest keeping your pet indoors following the procedure to prevent any dirt or debris from entering the injection site and to reduce the likelihood of infection.

To avoid any discomfort or inflammation at the injection site, we recommend refraining from putting a harness or clothing on your pet for at least 4 hours after the procedure.

For the well-being and comfort of your pet, it is best to avoid bathing them for at least 24 hours after the implantation, giving the site sufficient time to heal and minimizing the risk of infection.
