Fitting the microchip

We understand the importance of your pet’s relaxation, and we make it a priority before initiating the microchipping process. Your pet’s comfort is our priority, and we will carefully position them on a comfortable vet bed mat, typically placed on a table or a similar surface. We kindly ask for your assistance in holding them during the procedure. To provide you with complete reassurance, we will conduct a scan to check for any previous microchip, ensuring a fresh and accurate microchipping procedure for your pet. With careful precision, we insert a needle between the shoulder blades of your pet and release the microchip under the skin, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience. The microchipping process is typically painless for most pets, as the area between the shoulder blades has minimal nerve endings. We take immediate action by applying pressure on the injection site with an antibacterial skin wipe as soon as the needle is withdrawn. This prevents excessive bleeding and reduces the risk of infection. Following the insertion, we will conduct a scan to validate the precise positioning of the microchip and ensure seamless connectivity between the scanner and the database, confirming the accurate retrieval of the unique ID.

Once the appointment is concluded, we will proceed to register all puppies and kittens on the Smarttrace National Pet Database within 24 hours. This database is backed by a UK-based call centre that operates 24/7, offering expert support and a specialized service for lost or stolen pets. You can expect to receive a confirmation email from the Smarttrace National Pet Database, confirming the successful registration of the microchip and providing you with the necessary information.

To remain compliant with the law and ensure the effectiveness of the microchip, it is necessary to keep your information current by promptly updating any changes in your address or contact details.

After The Appointment

For the first 4 hours following the procedure, it is recommended to refrain from touching the implantation area. This allows the site to heal and reduces potential sensitivity your pet may experience.

To ensure a clean and sterile environment for the injection site, it is advisable to keep your pet indoors after the procedure, minimizing the risk of contamination and potential infection.

For the well-being of your pet and to prevent any potential discomfort or irritation, it is advisable not to use a harness or clothing on them for at least 4 hours following the procedure.

For the best outcome and to avoid any potential complications, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before bathing your pet after the implantation to allow the site to heal and reduce the risk of infection.
