When To Scan?

Scan 1 – Pregnancy Confirmation

Between 30-35 days from the last mating, our skilled team conducts the first scan, which is crucial for pregnancy confirmation, as well as estimating the number of puppies and determining the due date.

*Please note that the indicated number of puppies is an estimation, considering the fact that gestation sacs often overlap, making it possible to inadvertently count them twice.

Scan 2 – Detailed View

Around 50+ days into the gestation period, a rescan is conducted to ensure that the pregnancy is progressing smoothly and to provide a detailed visual examination of the puppies. As an added bonus, we include photos and videos as part of the package, which will be conveniently delivered to your email, creating a precious keepsake for you to treasure.

Scan 3 – Post Whelping

Your pet’s safety and well-being are our top priorities. That’s why we offer a scan to ensure that the bitch has successfully given birth and to check for any potential issues, such as retained afterbirths.

What To Expect At The Appointment

Appointment length: your pet’s appointment is scheduled for an estimated time of 45 minutes.

Step 1

Providing a comfortable experience is our priority. Together, we take the time to acquaint ourselves with your pet and ensure they feel at ease. We will walk you through the scanning procedure, discuss the anticipated outcomes, and ensure all necessary consent forms are taken care of.

Step 2

Once the scanning equipment is in place, we will carefully position your pet on a comfortable vet bed mat, with a specific emphasis on their stomach area. Throughout the scan, we kindly ask for your support in maintaining your pet’s position, allowing them to remain relaxed and still.

To facilitate the scan, we will apply a generous layer of ultrasound gel to your pet’s stomach area and the probe head.

Step 3

Throughout the scan, we will fine-tune the scanner’s settings to maximize the clarity of the images. Starting from your pet’s tail end and proceeding along the midline, we will carefully inspect the interior, confirming pregnancy and assessing viability by detecting individual heartbeats.

When feasible, we will freeze the screen to explain our observations in detail. Additionally, we can create cine clips to document significant moments and share them with you via email, along with any images captured during the appointment.

Step 4

Once the scan is done, we will ensure to wipe off any excess gel, minimizing the need for self-cleaning.

We will be there to address any concerns you may have and offer valuable advice on pregnancy and whelping, if needed.

Should the initial scan not show a positive result, we offer the possibility of a rescan. Within 7-10 days of the initial scan, you can take advantage of our discounted rescan service. Please note that the visibility of the pregnancy may become clearer as the gestation period reaches around 30 days.
