When To Scan?
Scan 1 – Pregnancy Confirmation
Between 30-35 days from the last mating, we conduct the initial scan, which not only confirms pregnancy but also provides valuable information such as the estimated number of puppies and the anticipated due date.
*Please take note that the indicated number of puppies should be considered an estimation, as the presence of gestation sacs overlapping each other can occasionally lead to a duplication in count.
Scan 2 – Detailed View
Once the pregnancy reaches 50+ days gestation, it’s the perfect time for a rescan to confirm the pregnancy’s healthy advancement and to get a comprehensive look at the puppies. As part of our service, we offer heartwarming photos and videos via email, making it a wonderful keepsake for you.
Scan 3 – Post Whelping
We understand the importance of ensuring a smooth birthing process for your pet. With our additional scan, we can provide peace of mind by confirming that the bitch has completed the birth process and by ruling out any retained afterbirths.
Benefits

What To Expect At The Appointment
Appointment length: we recommend allowing up to 45 minutes for your pet’s appointment.
Step 1
At our clinic, we strive to create a positive and relaxing experience for you and your pet. We start each appointment by spending time with your pet, making them feel comfortable and at ease. We will guide you through the scan procedure, share our expectations, and ensure all necessary consent forms are completed.
Step 2
With the scanning equipment prepared, we’ll gently position your pet on a comfortable vet bed mat, concentrating on their stomach area. Your valuable assistance in keeping your pet in position throughout the scan ensures their stillness and relaxation. Based on their preference, your pet can either lie down on their back or stand up during the process.
Before commencing the scan, we will ensure that your pet’s stomach area and the probe head are adequately coated with ultrasound gel.
Step 3
As we perform the scan, we will continuously optimize the scanner’s settings to achieve the clearest images possible. Our examination will commence at your pet’s tail end, progressing along the midline to thoroughly investigate the interior, confirm pregnancy, and evaluate viability by identifying individual heartbeats.
If appropriate, we will pause the screen to offer a thorough explanation of our findings. Moreover, we can record cine clips to highlight key moments and forward them to you via email, along with any images taken during the appointment.
Step 4
After finishing the scan, we will promptly wipe off any excess gel, minimizing the need for self-cleaning.
We will be ready to address any queries you might have and offer pregnancy and whelping advice if necessary.
In case the initial scan does not indicate a pregnancy, we are happy to discuss a rescan option. You can schedule a discounted rescan within 7-10 days of the initial appointment. Just remember that the visibility of the pregnancy may improve after reaching the 30-day gestation mark.
